Speedgate is a family run business founded in 1974 by Chris & Moira Holland’s. Speedgate is now run by the next generation of the Dutch family - Ashley, Julian, James and Lindon. Initially, the business started as a field and fruit farm that sold some of its produce, including hay and straw to local farmers and horse owners. In the early 1980s, they began to diversify into the equestrian market, leading to the opening of its saddles in 1982. At the same time, some outbuildings were transformed into stables. Eventually, as demand for products increased, the food was moved to a new building that is still in use. During the 1990s and early 2000s, business continued to grow, and planters and forage sheds continued to attract more customers and stockpiles of a wider range of products. They also started equestrian events from their site at its farm in Fockham and continued to develop their off-road horseback riding.
