Race for Life is cancer research UK's largest fundraising series. The event is held across the UK and includes participants walking, jogging or running 5k and 1k routes, as well as their Pretty Muddy obstacle course. it started 25 years ago as a women-only event. The first event was held in batter sea in 1994, with 750 participants raising £48,000. Since then, it has grown into a series of events across the country, raising nearly half a billion pounds to fight cancer over the past 25 years. In 2019, Race for Life also opened its doors to men for the first time to get involved, a truly inclusive event that gives people the opportunity to join the campaign against cancer with family and friends.
